This review covers Glenmorangie The Lasanta 15 Years Old — the 15-year-old Lasanta Glenmorangie now sells in the UK and internationally — not the earlier 12-year-old that is still the US version. In the glass it’s clearly sherry-led, but it isn’t a heavy, dense sherry malt: the flavor is rich and satisfying while the mouthfeel stays light. I tasted it neat first, then with water, over ice and as a highball.
Neat is where it shows best. The nose is fruity and generous — honey, dried fruit, nuts, orange and a floral lift — and the palate brings caramel, berries, dark chocolate and orange, with spice and oak supporting the sweetness rather than taking over. It’s never sticky-sweet; there’s a freshness to it, and the finish lingers with fruit, spice and a slight bitterness. There’s very little to fault, but next to comparable sherried malts it’s a little less complex, and its delivery is on the gentle side.
It suits anyone who likes sherry-cask sweetness but not heavy, cloying sherry, and newcomers looking for something easy and rich. For a fuller, more intense sherried malt, see The Glendronach 12; for a lighter, livelier sherry-cask style, Glenfarclas 12. Glenmorangie’s bourbon-cask core bottle is covered in my Original 12 review. On Glenmorangie’s UK shop it was listed at £54 for 70cl (out of stock when checked on October 1, 2026).
